To ensure a safe and happy holiday you should have:

  1. Basic coastal navigation
  2. Basic boat handling experience
  3. Basic sailing experience – if you are planning to charter a sailing boat and you wish to use the sails

No fancy boat parking skills are required. Upon departure Whitsunday Escape staff will take your boat out of the marina and on return our staff will help you refuel your boat and berth your boat at Coral Sea Marina.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel more than 60 days from the charter start date, there are two options:
    • cancel – a $110 administration fee applies, but the remainder of your deposit will be refunded
    • defer – your entire $600 deposit can be held in trust for up to 5 years to be applied to another charter
  • If you cancel within 60 days of the charter start date, the fees are totally non-refundable.
  • We highly recommend you take out the recommended travel insurance policy to protect you if you need to cancel after the fees have become non-refundable

Security Bond

As a condition of the boat owners’ insurance, we require a security bond to be lodged. This is processed as a pre-authorisation on a credit card. The pre-authorisation freezes the availability on your credit card and no money is withdrawn from your account, however you do need to have this sum available in your account for the pre-authorisation to be possible. If the boat is damaged we will then withdraw the money from your account. The most you are liable for is $4000.

We recommend that your take out travel insurance from the moment your charter fees become non-refundable (60 days prior to travel). If you are covered with the recommended travel insurance, you would be able to make a claim on the travel insurance for the majority of the security bond should you damage the boat.
